Where the name comes from

Big Far Designs started with a question from a three-year-old. We were talking about a faraway place, and my son asked, “Is it big, far?”

That question, half wonder and half trip planning, became the name and the whole idea behind the brand. Think Big. Go Far. Simple Fun!

Drawn from the places we go

Every design begins as a drawing of a real place. Some are close to home in San Diego, like the wildflower washes of Anza-Borrego and the boats out on the water. Others come from farther away: the high desert and ranch country of the American West, and the lakes and gorges of the Finger Lakes in upstate New York.

We make fun, laid-back apparel for exploring the outdoors and enjoying the simple stuff, whether the trip is near or far.

Each piece is printed to order by our production partner, Printful, mostly on heavyweight garment-dyed cotton. Printing on demand means no piles of unsold shirts, and it lets a small brand keep drawing new places.
